I’ve been a silent follower of your blog for some time. I’m also a big proponent of equality and equal wages. I’m a current senior at Princeton writing my thesis on social factors that affect political engagement for collegiate women.
You use the statistic that women earn .77 to the man’s dollar. You’re not alone in that at all. In fact, it’s the most common statistic used in conversation, but it is actually wildly outdated. More recent studies show that women make .91 to the man’s dollar. (I can provide detailed analyses of such studies if you’d like.)
I worry that working with outdated information and having it be so widespread actually hurts the cause. I’d love to get your feedback. Please feel free to email me on this subject.
